What is the Carbon Literacy Project?
What is the Carbon Literacy Project?
“An awareness of the carbon costs and impacts of everyday activities and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions on an individual, community and organisational basis.”
The Carbon Literacy Project was set up to give everyone, everywhere, a day of training on carbon literacy – and in doing so, empower people to make positive change. Today, over 74,000 individuals from over 5,800 organisations have been certified as Carbon Literate and that number is rising fast.
The Carbon Literacy Project is globally unique – there is nothing else quite like it anywhere. It was recognised as such by the UN at COP21, in Paris, where it was awarded as a TAP100, one of 100 worldwide Transformative Action Programs.Future Green is excited to collaborate with Lighthouse Sustainability to deliver high quality carbon literacy training in Hong Kong and Asia Pacific region. MEET HEIDI
My background is in food policy, marketing, and food service. I’m also an enthusiastic Workshopper (AJ&Smart Sprint Method) - a great tool for aligning teams around prioritising challenges. My company Future Green consults with food businesses and runs a membership programme in Hong Kong, supporting over 50 members each month. I also have 5000+ hours of training and workshopping experience to ensure learning is an enjoyable and memorable experience.
In this group program, I’ll help you catalyse action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions both individually and in the workplace. All of this is helping to position you as a climate champion. And I can't wait to show you how...
Meet emma
During my 25-year career in the sustainability sector, I have gained invaluable experience working with businesses to understand, commit to, and achieve their climate goals.
I founded Lighthouse in 2020 to deliver impactful advice, coaching and training. I began to focus on Carbon Literacy as a tool to build capacity and empower employees in 2021 and have led the team to deliver more than 50 courses and train almost 700 learners to date. Some of those trained include leadership teams from Beko PLC, KBR Inc, Crown Worldwide, Turley and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Fund.
Increasing capacity in the training sector is something I am committed to as this is currently a bottleneck for supporting the population to access climate emergency training. Lighthouse’s recently developed and certified Carbon Literacy Train the Trainer course is testament to this.
Training is Fun, memorable and engaging

It's my second workshop with Future Green and one may think there might be a bit of repetition - but no, the team constantly refresh their content, keep things up to date and interesting with new activities. Engaging, informative and insightful as always.

Having admired the work Future Green Global has been achieving for some time, I was eager to engage first-hand, and I am happy to say that my already high expectations were exceeded. The course's clear structure, interactive approach, and personalised touch enriched my professional identity in the F&B Sustainability industry, equipping me with a comprehensive toolkit and knowledge base. The insights into how corporations have successfully navigated sustainability challenges were particularly enlightening for me. This course stands out as an invaluable resource in our climate-conscious era, proving relevant and essential for every professional field, as "every job is a climate job", and we can all make a difference.

It was a real pleasure to work with the Future Green team, very passionate, approachable and adaptable. They animated and engaged very well the teams into collaborative thinking and learnings!

Heidi and her team at Future Green did a marvellous job in facilitating a diverse group of senior participants from assessing the opportunities & challenges and then coming up with committed actions. A great balance between convergent thinking and divergent thinking, between small-group discussion and plenary exchanges, between left-brain critical thinking and right-brain creative ideation, etc. In particular, I love using the visual of "Sail and Anchor" to engage the participants in search of new directions and making commitments to move forward!
